Exhibit Opening at Gazeta Wyborcza

„Today in our building we’re hosting the authors, their subjects and the articles themselves,” said Adam Michnik at the opening of the exhibit Poland on the Front Page 1979-89.

For three hours, the exhibit became a platform uniting people divided by history – those who would not be normally together for reasons of politics, ideology, geography or culture met on September 28, 2002 at the Gazeta Wyborcza gallery.

Among them: Frasynik and Kiszczak, Bujak and Rakowski, Borusewicz and Passet, Wajda, Hoff, Litynski and many others. Attending were also the authors of many of the exhibit articles: John Darnton, Bradley Graham, Michael Kaufman, Michale Dobbs, John Tagliabue and Victoria Pope .

Ewa Zadrzynska extended her thanks on behalf of the organizer – InterAccess Inc. – to the former foreign correspondents for their presence at the exhibit and for their determination over 20 years ago not to give in; and to the former authorities for giving in.

And then there was the feats of hunters’ stew (bigos), kopytka dumpling, sausages, herring – you name it.
